Daniel Hulse was in the hot seat and has been using the drill and harrow since it was purchased from RVW Pugh in March 2022.

The machines have covered around 750 acres drilling spring corn and winter wheat.

I asked Daniel how it compares to previous drills he has used; “We used to us the Amazone drill but the Alpego is so much easier to use. It’s simple to set up and a lot more user friendly. It also has a lot more rotors than previous machines.”

The quick linkage system allows an easy detachment of the seed-drill from the power harrow while the sowing management is completely electric so that all calibrations can be done also directly from the tractor cabin by using the ISOBUS system.

The field Daniel was working in was situated on a steep hill which the Alpego glided over with ease. High-precision distribution head even in case of the maximum angle of inclination, thanks to the Turbo ROTAL and to the lower position near the seed-bar. The rows of seed are evenly distributed as shown in the photo of the winter wheat.

Fraser Jones, the machine’s owner, and Daniel showed me the stone guards which are to stop any stones from getting trapped in the cultivator saving on time and also prevents any wear on the discs therefore saving on cost of replacement parts.

Daniel explained how the Alpego drill is more narrow than other drills when folded up making it easier to transport on roads.

The drilling of spring corn went so well for F M Jones we look forward to the winter wheat coming through!
