Barrie Birch from Birch Contracting is pleased with his new Massey Ferguson 1840 Baler.
Formerly an agricultural contractor, Barrie Birch now focuses on hay and straw for the equine industry, and has been very pleased with the MF 1840 baler he bought in time for the last year’s baling season.
Barrie explained that the baler’s in-line design, where it runs directly behind the tractor, makes it incredibly easy to use. This design also provides better weight distribution and reduces ground compaction. Barrie explained how the baler works well with his Ritchie bale accumulator.
He added, “I chose an in-line baler for the ease of working, I found it straightforward to use too.”
Key feature of the MF 1840 baler are the 1.9m wide low profile pick up which improves crop feeding, prevents losses and maximises productivity. This is improved again by the gauge wheels that are fitted either side which allows the baler to follow uneven ground, so that the pick-up tines are left undamaged. The bale forming process is straightforward with this baler, reducing maintenance, time operating costs and simple servicing. The MF 1840 produces 46cm wide x 36cm high bales that can be adjusted in length from between 700mm and 1300mm without any tools!
Barrie is a returning customer having previously bought a Spearhead trailed topper and Buzzard bale grab. Barrie added, “I found dealing with RVW Pugh sales team very enjoyable”.
